Merry Christmas!!!

A special Merry Christmas to my blog followers.  The bread pudding is in the oven, the potato soup is simmering, and Carl and I are waiting for son to wake up so we can open presents!!!!
Made candies and cookies.  (PS to DL:  the batch of your candy I made is over half gone!!!  Sam loves it!) Pictures are of my little gingerbread men, with some turned upside down to look like reindeer!!!  Sam did the decorating.  (He was not really into it, but too bad!)

A change of pace

This morning, I actually sat down at the sewing machine, and made two microwave baked potato bags.  I am gifting them to my walking gals. Boy, do we have fun traipsing the paths at Runge, or burning a path at the Mall.  I found this on Pinterest.  It's been kitchen tested and Carl approved.

Also, while I was in Columbia on Thursday, DH got the Christmas tree up AND decorated!!!  I'm going to have to keep him around.

We had some pretty snow this morning.  I think it's colder in the basement where my sewing machine is, than outside!!!

Unikatissima December KAL

We are halfway through the "Advent Calendar" KAL.  I don't know about this lace knitting, but I'm doing it anyway.  It will definitely need to be blocked!!!

Unikatissima Advent Shawl

Of course the above picture is upside down, even though it's right side up on photo stream.  Below is a close up of last few days.

Knitvent 2013; other FO's

I bought an ebook for Knitvent (a take on Advent). I've only completed one garment, because I'm also doing another KAL lace shawl!!  I also made another cowl with some leftover yarn, and have enough to make a pair of fingerless mitts.  Not enough hours in the day...

A crown for Miss Stash-Buster

Don't you think it's fitting I made myself a crown for my accomplishments?

Seriously, it's awesome!!!

But if you want REAL seriousness, it's Little Green Elf Cowl, which took an afternoon and an evening!!!  I don't know the yarn; it didn't have a label, but it's washable!!!

I have also whipped out a baby hat, and a "Peaches and Cream" cotton tote bag, but no pictures yet.

Week in Review

I have been a busy little girl this week.  Went through all my yarn (no small feat) and got several bags of odds and ends suitable for giving to nursing home or donate to a place where it could be put to good use.
I used up lots of stash making the following three garments; one for a friend of my mom's, and the two lap blankets for church ministry.
I did all this, plus walked three mornings this week, and saw Tom Turkey (5 of them) with his tail feathers all ruffled up while at Runge. Of course, I did not have my camera, but it was a first-time-in-my-life sighting. We have seen these turkeys growing all summer, and it was fun to watch them strut their stuff!  Nature is awesome.
Now to go back downstairs and get another batch of stash (which I actually sorted into shawl, blanket, baby, etc) and start another project!!!

Enjoy!

Another one bites the dust!!

Just finished another UFO last night!!!
This started out as Mara.  When I got to the ruffle part, I just couldn't make myself kfb for a total of 500+ stitches, then K2P2 for 5 inches!!!  SO...................I put on a skinny ruffle, and I like it!!!

Color not so good.  If the sun comes out today, I'll get some outside pictures!!!

The LONG road to finishing a UFO

FINALLY, after starting this shawl over a year ago, I got this beauty done!!!!  It's a 10 row repeat, with either one stitch increased or one stitch decreased every 10 rows.  It got to be a little monotonous, so I put it down last fall, and made LOTS of other things.  Last week, after Knit Nite, I picked it up and got it finished in five days!!!  I was at the halfway point then.  It's around 84 inches long, and 11 inches wide.  It is a pattern from Jane Austen Knits Summer 2012.

One more major UFO to finish up, then it's back to knitting for Christmas gifts, and getting some things in my queue started (and finished!)

Curious collective shawl finished!!!

I finished this shawl yesterday evening!!!!  So happy to be done!!!!  It was an interesting knit; I will likely wait a long time before I tackle it again.
Enjoy!!!

On a side note, got to Wichita, and realized all I had packed was underwear!!!!  Made a quick trip to Kohl's and got some bargains!!!  OMG, I'm getting old!!  I had the clothes I wanted to take with me hanging up downstairs, and plain old forgot about them!!!

Curious...Part II

I've just gotten to the half-way point!!!  Finished with bobbles, and twist cables.  I am hopeful it will go faster now, even though I'm up to 297 stitches, with two increases each row.  Oh well, keeps me off the streets.

Curious Collective Shawl

This shawl was constructed on Ravelry via people's votes on yarn, shaping, etc.  It is an interesting pattern.
I'm at 30%.  It is a KAL, but I don't remember when we are to be finished.

Curious Collective Shawl

I'm using Baby Bee yarn in grey and grape.  The pattern called for sock yarn, but can't find solid colors in this town.  I increased my needle size, and actually made the gauge!!!!!  GerryArt, I know you'd be proud of that little fact!!!

Wingspan; and one final picture of "In the Pink"

Love, love, love this pattern!!!!
It took 5 days, but was so much fun to watch the changing colors!!
Ice Yarns:  One skein, plus enough of second skein to knit one row and then bind off.

Wingspan

Since most of you saw this in person, I haven't put my In the Pink shawl on, but now I just have to!!!

Last Peek at In the Pink

One last picture before it is finished!!!  After this photo was taken, I have finished many, MANY more repeats, and now have 15 to go.  I should have it done tomorrow or Friday, and plenty of time to wash and have it ready for Knit Nite!!!

After this, I'm going to do something FAST and EASY!!!!!

Oh my, I must be certifiable!!!  But I do like it!!!!

Verge II and In the Pink Update

I made another Verge for a friend who loves black and white!!!  Love this pattern!!

In the Pink Update:
I have one row of purl, then I start the edging.  There are 438 stitches, and the edging is worked on 5 at a time, so it's going to be a while, but I LOVE this shawl.  Below, I have the triangles finished; that was a bit of a challenge!!

IN THE PINK is in Timeout

I have the left and right wings finished;  I have read and re-read how to put it together, and I am a bit intimidated to start, so I'm pondering right now.  I may have to bring it to Cluckfest for help (hint, hint, Gerry)

Anyway, here are the pieces.  The wings should curl around the center, but the needle won't let me do it properly.

Enjoy and be envious!!!

Solitude = lots of knitting time

During my "seclusion" in Wichita, I finished a scarf, and started "In the Pink".  The center of the shawl was relatively easy and I had it finished in 2 days!!!!  Now, to take a deep breath and start the 'wings'.
More to come...

Another UFO now finished

I think this is the last UFO in the house!!! Except for the shawl in time out; and the mate to a slipper that hasn't been started yet, otherwise I'm caught up.
there are a couple of in-progress projects in the car, but that's another story.

Owlie sleep sack

Promise kept!!! On to "In the Pink"

I kept my promise to myself and got the second WIP finished and blocked.
Rustic autumn shawl, made with sock yarn, turned out wonderful!!!!

It's hard to see the ribbing on the edge, but I'll bring it to Knit Nite for oohs and aahs!!
Next project is "In the Pink"  which I will work on in solitude in the hotel in Wichita this week-end!!!

On the VERGE

I finished this shawl before going to the Lake yesterday.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pattern. So fast, and love the "built-in" fringe.

Verge

I bought this pattern at the Twist yarn shop in Wichita, KS. This is also where I got the awesome Elizabeth Zimmermann book!!!

cute little hat

My new daughter-in-law's niece outgrew her cupcake hat, so I made this cute little owlie hat.
