Witch Doctors and Voodoo

Found this little cable holder on Ravelry, and HAD to make one.  Then I decided I needed a voodoo guy to match.  I had to make some revisions;  I didn't have any pull tabs, so I made I-cord to hold onto my finger.
This was so fun.  If I know anyone who does lots of cable stitches, she may just get one of these!!!

I saw the witch doctor

Yes, I have definitely lost it, but I love crazy!!!

Jacoby fingerless mittens

It only took me 7 days, but I got these done (two at a time!) for a girlfriend who is leaving next Friday for Winter in Arizona.

Do you love my model?   I shall call her Lefty.  Found her at a beauty supply store.  My son said it creeped him out!!!!

Merry Christmas to all!!

Busy little hands

My, oh my, my little hands are tired.  I still have one more set of wristlets to make; they are about 2.5 inches along.
BUT,  what I have finished is below.

Susie's Reading Mitts:

Made with hand-dyed yarn from my favorite little yarn store in Kansas.

For Good Hat:

Girl's Helmet Cap:

The helmet cap is from an old pattern my mom had.  Many thanks to Miss Hilda, the model (even though she has a SMALL head).  The hats will be given to charity; the mitts to my future daughter-in-law!!!!  Yay!!!  Nick is engaged!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

The feast is over, the dishes done, the men are watching football, so I thought I'd post a couple of things I've finished.

First of all, I'm so thankful to call you my friends!!!!!  I am truly blessed!!!

Okay, project #1:  Crocheted wristlets from Lionbrand (Pattern L10480).  I modified the pattern or they would have gone to my elbows.  Quick crochet!!!

Project #2:  Googie dishcloth

I found this pattern on Running Jack Knits blog by Wendy Poush.  It is blocking right now.  It's a boomerang shaped washcloth.  Made it this morning.  The shape intrigued me.

Enjoy your family, friends, and other blessings, now and tomorrow!!!

For Good hat

GerryArt gifted me this amazing hat pattern, and I got it done in 3 days!!!  There's a heartwarming story behind the hat, and I just had to make it.
I've had the heart buttons for quite a while, and this is the perfect project to put them on.

One more pair...

Finished these last night, and forgot to include them in the set of pictures.
they are crocheted, and I finished them in about 1 1/2 hours.  They're supposed to have little bells on the end of the cuff, but I don't think that would be good for baby.
Elfin Baby Booties:

I used Christmassy yarn for them...may go to my great niece in Indiana.

More booties

I've been in the baby mode lately.  Right now, I don't have the patience to make large objects, hence the two shawls on needles in various states of being finished.

Angora baby booties

 Page 81 Booties

I also made a Hexagon Revisited Sweater, which will fit a 3-4 year old.  Buttons aren't sewn on yet; may change them for a more girlie sweater, given the yarn has sparklies in it.

these pattens  are in my Ravelry library.

Oh yeah, I made a halloween grab bag, too!!

Other small FO's

I've been enjoying doing small projects...instant gratification, you know!!!

5 minute baby booties

Roll brim baby hat:

And my cute little owlet:

Another pair of hand warmers

A free pattern on Ravelry I've wanted to make for some time...finally did it!!!
Cherry Red handwarmers  was the pattern.  They are a tad snug on my hands, but would fit a petite hand just right!!!

The yarn is Adriafil KnitCol  color 052.  It was a partial skein (116 yards) and I still have some left over!!!

Do you like the hands?  Hubby was out picking up leaves, so I had to improvise!

Two at a time fingerless mitts

Finally, I actually did something two at a time, and finished it!!!!  Now perhaps I will finish the socks I started a couple of years ago.
Pattern on Ravelry  Garden Trellis Mitts   The yarn is Knitcol  100% Lana Merino.  It says superwash, but I think I'll use special care...Too bad I already had removed my foo foo nails before the picture.

My first top down sweater!!!

I made my first top down sweater last night in 2 hours!!!!!  Wow, am i good or what?

Okay, so it's not an adult sweater, but it will look cute on my Christmas tree!!!  Free pattern on Ravelry called "Cheers".

More booties!!!

I got another hat and booties finished in plenty of time for a December baby!!!!
Same patterns...roll brim baby hat and Saartje's bootees.  Used up 2 partial skeins of leftover yarn.

Whole-hearted shawl

A very special friend gifted me this pattern, Wholehearted, and I couldn't wait to get it started...then get it finished.  I may need carpal tunnel surgery after this one (numbness in the hands and arms quite frequently), but it was worth it!!!  A gorgeous pattern, a gorgeous shawl, and a gorgeous friend who sent me this.  Love ya, GerryArt!!!

I used Caron simply soft for the solid, and James Brett chunky DK weight for the variegated.  Colors ended up matching up pretty good.

What to do with leftovers?

When my hubbie and I go to El Jimador, we usually get the steak and chicken fajita for two (which would really serve 6), and have a lot of left-over fajita fixins.  So.......
We made fajita soup!!!!  We had the meat, onions, and green peppers from the fajitas, added a can of corn, a package of Knorr's Fiesta Sides Spanish Rice, a container of left-over home made black bean soup (that was in the freezer), and some spicy V-8 juice!  Garnished with tortilla chips, shredded cheese, and sour cream, it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO   GOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!

We have several containers in the freezer, for a quick, easy lunch!!  Okay, you can stop drooling now!!!

Baby hat and bootees

I made this lacy baby hat, then decided it needed bootees to go along with it.  I love Saartje's bootees pattern.  They were made in two evenings.

Color Whirl Vest

The Color Wheel Vest  is now finished as of  this afternoon!!!!!  I had to interrupt to make a baby hat for a new grandbaby at church.
I definitely need a new camera...the colors don't show up very well, but you all saw it Wednesday!!!

The pattern is from Love of Knitting, Fall 2011.  Thank you so much, Anna Marie!!!!

Summer Flies

Just finished this amazing shawlette!!!!  Only took 4 days of doing mostly nothing but knit, and my arms have the soreness to prove it!!!!
I love how quick it went (even with purl rows) and the different textures in it.
Summer Flies is free download on Ravelry.

The ruffled edge has 396 stitches and is supposed to be stockinette.  With my "experience" I knew it would roll, so I made the last 5 rows garter, then the picot bind off.  That was fun!!!

Zora shawl

Another creation from Knitscene Accessories!!!  This is ALL garter stitch.  It's an interesting border; you bind off as you go!!!  Took less than a week to make; it really needs blocking (I have a pile of things to block).  Will bring tomorrow night for oohs and aahs, hopefully!

one skein of Fortissima Colori (from Schoeller-Stahl) 420 meters.

Putney Shawl

In the Knitscene Accessories 2012, there are several patterns I plan on doing.  I've completed two, one of which is the Putney Shawl.  My pictures aren't the best, but I had to share with you.  After I block the shawl, I'll take better pictures.
This was a really FUN shawl to make.
I love the edge, which was very easy to pick up and knit.

I used one skein Sensations Breeze, a light weight self-patterning yarn, I found at Joann's.
