We got the tree up over Thanksgiving, then this week, I got the Nativity sets put up. The large one was purchased at Sam's Club several years ago, and it is what I focus on when the hustle and bustle starts getting to me!!! Enjoy!!
A lot of ornaments went home with Nick, along with a taller tree we no longer use.
This table has my angels, and some lit ornaments that change color while they are on. It is really pretty!!! The insides of the ornaments are glass-blown figures.
I love to knit, crochet, and now, thanks to winning a sewing machine, a renewed interest in sewing.

PARTY TIME!!!!!!
Just in time for our Christmas party last Saturday, (you know the one where there was a lot of police activity), I made this little purse to take with me. I got lots of compliments, and have another "money-making" idea for the future.
Of course, I put pockets on the inside. All made from a napkin and a placemat!!!
How about that?

Two more little precious stockings
okay, okay, here are the first, and last, (for a while) little stockings. They are so fun and quick to make!!
The above is made close to the pattern; more pastel than bold colors.

This is my favorite!!! Perhaps because it is Christmas season.
They average 3.5 to 4.5 inches, using an 'F' hook.
Enjoy!!!

Thank you, GerryArt!!
My sweet, dear friend sent a link, and I couldn't resist trying out the pattern. This is my prototype of the little stocking. I now have in my possession, a myriad of colors to make some stockings similar to that on the web site. I plan to use a smaller hook, so they should be smaller and cuter. Thanks, Gerry!!!
Forgive me, Kansas!!!!
Well, the MU bug hit me, only because my step-son graduated from there, and is a successful veterinarian, and an avid MU fan. Also, a sweet young girl in Sam's Sunday school class, who touched my heart, is going to MU next fall. So..... I had to make a couple of scarves for them. I had to!!!
This is a pocket scarf from the book "60 Quick Knits: 20 scarves, 20 hats, 20 mittens in Cascade 220".
The pockets are for MP3 players, phones, other small things. It should look good on that young girl.
I had enough leftover of Vanna's Choice Mustard and Black to crochet a quick, man-looking scarf for the step-son.
Not bad for a little girl from Kansas, huh!

Another Jean Purse
I made this for my friend, Marsha. It was the first time I had to make a lining, and it came out pretty good. A quick trip to Joann's and I found the perfect straps. Put pockets in the inside. I keep learning as I go along.

My first shrug
I made a shrug. I thought it was a tad small for my body. I gave it to a dear friend (she looked absolutely gorgeous in it); she took it home and blocked it out, and returned it to me! It fits wonderfully now. What a sweet, sweet lady I am blessed to have as a friend.
Never dare the Bonewoman!!
In September, I got an email with the cutest picture of decorated cookies. The girls thought I should make some for the upcoming bake sale for the Sunday School classes. Well, never tempt me with something "ornery". They aren't fit for a bake sale, but the ladies will be surprised when I bring them to knitting in the morning.
Hey, I never said I was an artist!!!!! My husband thinks I'm nuts, but he did have a BIG smile on his face!!

First, the scarf...
Finished this gorgeous scarf and showed it to some friends.
Then, a friend suggested making matching mitts to go with the scarf.
SO I DID!!!!
Thanks to A.M. for the pattern, and GerryArt for the suggestion!!!
Luv ya!!!

I did it!!!!!
Okay, I'm a few weeks late for 4th of July, but I made my FIRST drawstring bag. I used a bandana I got really "cheap", and it was my practice one; not too bad for the first one. Thanks, GerryArt, for the helpful tutoring!!
Also, thanks to Anna Marie and her granddaughter, I made this little bag out of a washcloth and duct tape!!! I found duct tape sheets and they worked well for this. With the help of hubby, we got the grommets in. What fun it was to put together!!!

My return to creativity
Okay, time to show some creativity. Last year, I bought this size 18 month jean skirt at my neighbor's garage sale. Then, last week, went to Hobby Lobby and got the denim bag...came home, sewed the skirt on to the bag, and viola!!! A small purse suitable for church. How fun!!!!

It's a new day
Good morning. The fireworks were amazing! Seeing them from 10 stories up really made an impression. After all these years, fireworks showed me how soldiers must have seen the attacks coming. It was really a new perspective!
Dad did much better last night and we hope to move to a rehab center tomorrow. Pray they have a room available.
P.S. I hope Gerryart gets this in her google reader now!

Happy 4th!
Alas, I am back in Wichita. Dad got loopy from medicine and fell. No broken bones, but a very swollen knee. Out of intensive care and no longer loopy. We're on the tenth floor with a gorgeous southern view, and should be able to see fireworks over the river tonight. Have a safe holiday!

It's been a while
I've been away, but now have time to put on a special "surprise" I gave to a friend at 4th Tuesday last night. She gave me sock yarn, and it was only right to make her something with it. Pattern is on Ravelry. She loved it!!!! Love you Gerry!!!

Prom Night
Doesn't Sam look handsome?!!!!! He's off to the Senior Prom. The next tuxedo will probably be his wedding, so enjoy this one for a LONG time. He's got a lot of schooling to go before he can get married (yeah, like that will stop it).

What does one do with placemats?
You make them into knitting needle holders!!!
The green works great for my dpn's. The side pocket could hold scissors and other small accessories. The blue "book" is made from 4 placemats (purchased at Dollar General), and folded and sewn into 12 pockets to hold circular needles. If I make another one, it will require a bit more thought for the pockets, but it will work just fine for 20 inch circulars. I googled knitting needle holders, and this was one of the solutions. Of course, I put my own spin on it!! My, my, what will I do next?...

WWII Vets arrive home in Wichita, KS
My dad, who served in WWII and Korea, was on the Honor Flight in Kansas. I drove in to surprise him at the airport, and BOY, was he surprised!!!! I made him cry, but they were tears of happiness. The crowd cheered from the 1st vet to the 72nd. It beats anything you ever see on TV coverage on the Honor Flights. If you ever have the opportunity to welcome the veterans home after a flight, DO IT!!!!!!! The soldier in the second picture stood at attention and saluted all 72 veterans as they were welcomed home. It was an awesome experience, and I'm so proud to be an American!!!

Little Uggs
had to show off the baby uggs I made. Already given to a co-worker for her hope chest she's putting together for future grandbabies. made two other pair, in pink, for new babies of friends.
I've been busy...
Oh, my!! My hubby's been retired and home for a month, and we have been going through EVERYTHING!!!!!! We have a giant "pile" of goodies for a garage sale this spring, and that's just cleaning out the lower level. We haven't even started on bedroom closets, chest of drawers, etc. That will be a fall garage sale, for sure.
Anyway, it's been going well (so far).
I did get to see my family a couple of weeks ago, and gave my nephew the sweater for his soon-to-be-born daughter. She's due in a couple of weeks!!!
working on 3 blankets; so of course, it's slow going, but I'll eventually get them done. AND, I still have 3 cupcake hats to finish...so much to do, so little waking hours...
more later!!

Whoops!!
I gave the wrong address for the knitting needle clutch; although that pattern was from that site, if you want additional patterns for needle cases go to http://tipnut.com/ There are tutorials for different cases. Hope this is clearer than mud.

A new sewing venture
Well, since I woke up at 3 AM, I decided to cut out and make a circular needle clutch. I found the pattern at www.craftleftovers.com they have a lot of free patterns for straight and circular needles.
Thank goodness you can't see my sewmanship too well. I was making this for a friend, but decided to keep it and make hers "better" as in getting the bias tape on nicer.
anyway, it was a way to kill time, and play with my sewing machine, AND I even got to make a button hole with it. EASY!!!!!
